Meet Us

antoniopic.jpgThe day of January 6, 2000 was momentous: Father Antonio, a Dominican treasure, arrived in Singapore. The main purpose of his undertaking the arduous journey to the island was to put to the test the rumour that Singaporean chicken rice tastes heavenly. The speck on the map was hitherto unknown to the Dominicans, and its people, reciprocating the ignorance, were living in darkness. Father Antonio was to change all this. For a while, though, he was pleased to seek refuge with the Redemptorists.

At long last, after desperate searches and heartfelt supplications, they found a place of their own and on January 15, 2001 they moved to Serangoon Gardens. The new habitation was placed under the patronage of St. Francis de Capillas, the First Martyr of China, and named after him. Father Antonio finally decided to try the chicken rice at Chomp Chomp. He was enraptured.

Father David turned up like a bad penny on December 14, an erstwhile refugee from China. He liked the house but was not sure the feeling was mutual.

chusmiblog.jpgFather Jesús María Hernandez arrived in Singapore on a warm afternoon of October, 2006. He brought with him one firm purpose, to lead the formation of the Dominican house and accompany their candidates in their spiritual journey of discernment. He is the man suited for the job. He was the master of students in Venezuela, where he worked for eight year, holds licentiates of Religious life and Moral Theology and was, until recently, the Secretary at the Provincial Curia in Hong Kong.

March 2008, our long waited postulants from Myanmar finally arrived. Welcome!
